Energy & Utilities

Paul Frank + Collins has a long history of representing energy and utility clients in Vermont and other jurisdictions.  We work hard to stay abreast of the changing political and technological landscape surrounding power and resource generation, transmission and use, and we pride ourselves in our ability to assist clients in all aspects of this highly regulated field.

Our attorneys are experienced in handing the full range of energy and utility issues, including energy generation and transmission, telecommunications, hydropower, water supply, and wastewater treatment.  We also handle mergers, acquisitions and financing transactions involving these issues and facilities.

Our attorneys have experience in the development of new energy generation facilities, assisting clients in all aspects of project development, including site identification, the RFP process, contract negotiation and oversight, and obtaining regulatory approvals, including environmental, land use and Public Service Board approvals.  On the business side, we also assist energy development clients with business planning and entity formation, negotiating supply and financing agreements, and relevant tax matters.  PF+C attorneys also have significant experience handling siting issues associated with utility easements, telecommunications towers, and wind machines.

In addition, as renewable and sustainable energy projects become more feasible, our practice continues to grow in these areas, and includes wind power projects and biofuel facilities.
