With over 35 years of experience, John T. Sartore is Paul Frank + Collin's senior trial lawyer, representing clients involving a wide range of subjects including: products liability, medical, legal and architectural malpractice, securities fraud, antitrust, bank fraud, bank robbery and conspiracy. On two occasions Mr. Sartore was the lead trial counsel in cases in which his clients won the largest verdict in Vermont history to that time.

Mr. Sartore is a Fellow and Vermont State Chair of the American College of Trial Lawyers.  He has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America for Vermont Business and Personal Injury Litigation since the reference first appeared in 1982. America’s Leading Lawyers (Chambers USA) lists Sartore as a leading criminal and corporate/commercial litigation attorney, along with the quote “He’s your true nuts-and-bolts lawyer - he always conducts thorough research and doesn’t go overboard.”

Mr. Sartore’s recent representations reflect the breadth of his experience:

  • Antitrust: Defense of indirect purchaser actions.

  • Commercial: Currently representing aircraft salvage company seeking to repair and resell former DHL A300 Airbus hit by terrorist missile over Baghdad, Iraq in 2003. Defense of motorcycle dealership in Colorado state court in suit alleging breach of contract and fraud.

  • Medical Malpractice: Defense of cases in the disciplines of neonatology, obstetrics, thoracic surgery and psychiatry.

  • Premises Liability: Defense of game preserve in accidental shooting that resulted in death of hunter guest.

  • Products Liability: Obtained settlement for homeowners injured in a fire caused by a defective LPG (liquid propane gas) cylinder.

  • White Collar Crime: Defense of corporation on federal charges of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and to violate the Clean Air Act. Counseled corporation under investigation for alleged conspiracy to commit U.S. Customs fraud.  Defense of scientist charged with submitting falsified data to U.S. EPA.

With his wife, Sally Coppersmith, Mr. Sartore runs Adams Landing, a Bed & Breakfast in Grand Isle in the heart of Vermont's beautiful Champlain Islands.
