Captive Insurance

Vermont Captive Insurance Lawyers

Representing approximately one-third of active captives domiciled in Vermont demonstrates that the captive insurance law team of Paul Frank + Collins has the depth and breadth of experience to successfully guide its clients through the entire spectrum of captive formation and maintenance.

Captive insurance representation by Paul Frank + Collins means having not just a lawyer, but a team of seasoned and responsive attorneys who are very accomplished in captive insurance law solutions dedicated to your success. We provide a complete range of legal services to insurers and have years of experience dealing with virtually every type of captive and risk retention groups.

Since 1981, when the Vermont Legislature enacted Vermont captive insurance statutes thereby creating the Vermont Captive Domicile, the firm has been devoted to establishing and maintaining Vermont as the world’s premier captive insurance domicile. To this end, lawyers in our captive insurance group serve on the board of directors of the Vermont Captive Insurance Association (the “VCIA”), various committees of the VCIA including the Legislative and annual Conference Committees, the Government Affairs Committee of the National Risk Retention Association, and as faculty of the International Center for Captive Insurance Education. We were instrumental in drafting the 1991 redomestication statute, which facilitates the redomiciling of captives both to and from Vermont and have since that time handled numerous redomestications between states and with the island of Bermuda and the Cayman Islands.

We provide captive insurance representation and tax advice to a diverse list of clients with captives in Vermont, New York, South Carolina, and Arizona. Many of our clients are Fortune 500 companies. Additionally, we provide counsel to a number of mid-sized clients and group captives including risk retention groups. We are dedicated to supporting the sophisticated and diverse insurance programs that evolve with our clients’ needs, often decade after decade.
