At a ceremony held at the Vermont State House on Thursday, April 18, 2019, Governor Phil Scott signed the annual captive insurance housekeeping bill into law. This year’s bill proposed several updates to Vermont’s leading captive law, including modifications to the captive examination schedule and improvements to the statute governing group captive investments. The many enhancements included in this year’s bill highlight the ability of the industry and its regulators to work closely in partnership with Vermont’s Governor and Legislature to ensure Vermont’s captive law remains the industry gold standard.
PF+C Director, Ben Gould serves as chairperson of the Vermont Captive Insurance Association’s legislative committee and was instrumental in shepherding this year’s legislation from the initial brainstorming sessions with members of the industry through its adoption into law by the Governor.
